Where do wild pigs primarily live in the wild?

Wild hogs, also known as feral pigs or wild boars, are found in various habitats around the world. They are native to Europe, Asia, and North Africa, but they have been introduced to many other parts of the world, including North America, South America, Australia, and some Pacific islands. They are thriving in the American South, think Florida, because there are no natural predators to target them. Additionally, they are also extremely feral and breed extremely quickly and multiple times a year.

In the wild, they inhabit a range of environments such as forests, grasslands, swamps, and even urban areas, depending on the region and the availability of food and water. In North America, they are particularly widespread and can be found in numerous states, often causing ecological and agricultural damage. They are often found on riverbeds and stream beds in Florida. They breed in those area regularly too.

I’ve even seen and heard about them in the Hillsborough River, along with coyotes. As Florida and other Southern States grow, we are constantly pushing wildlife (both imported and native) into smaller and smaller areas making contact more and more frequent between wildlife and humans.

The bottom line is wild pigs are everywhere and only growing.
