Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (also known as the FWC) is over the hunting and fishing in the great state of Florida. While there are not a ton of regulations regarding the killing of wild hogs or boars, any that could apply would be here.
Florida Hiking
These folks give you a brief explanation of what to do if you encounter a wild pig or boar and you aren’t equipped with a firearm or bow. Basically, this is what to expect from a wild boar you aren’t trying to actively hunt and kill. This is really a great resource all around for all things hiking in Florida.
THORN Ministries is our favorite Tampa charity, we donate our harvested hog and pig meat here. I know that 100% percent of the donations go to helping our local homeless in the Tampa, Florida area. We donate our harvested meat to these folks.
From Field to Table
The fine, fine folks over at From Field to Table did a great article on eating wild pigs. The article also provides a nice outline of the procedures for safely handling the meat after harvesting it. This is especially important with any pork.
