Obviously, we love hog hunting given the title and the Blog Subject
As you can tell, we are really passionate about killing wild pigs here. The natural answer is what normal person would be so passionate and interested in killing wild pigs? If you are here, then you probably have some interest in hog hunting already.
First, they are out-of-control and destructive. In Florida alone, they destroy millions of dollars of crops annually. They cause countless car accidents on our rural state roads, they damage lawns and landscaping and destroy livestock – whether it’s eating chickens, eating feed for cattle or just running turkeys off and driving them crazy. They are a nuisance. Don’t believe us – check out this 2021 article from the Gainesville Sun calling them a “plague” or the Wired article that estimates $2.5 billion in total damages annually from wild pigs. These things are literally destroying our State, its agriculture industry and native species. The population of wild hogs cannot be controlled in Florida and the American South. There are countless pigs with an ever growing population without aggressive population controls, including hunting, this population will never get under control and continue destroying our communities.
Secondly, it’s fun. The thrill of stalking wild pigs on a dark path in between palmetto scrub and throw streams is fun. There’s no other way around it It’s great fun. There is not a better way to spend a day or night then with your kids chasing this invasive species in the Florida swamps.

Third, it makes me a better shooter. Shooting stationary targets is great, but dealing with the excitement of trying to hit wild pigs from 150 yards out or a pig on the move ultimately makes me a much better shooter. The adrenaline of the hunt makes me a better shooter than hourlong drills at stationary targets all day.
Fourth, the versatility of hog hunting. Unlike other forms of hunting, hog hunting offers countless opportunities whether it’s honing your AR15 skills and shooting at moving targets, stalking and using a shotgun with slugs, blind or stand hunting with traditional deer style rifles or any variation of them. You can literally hunt with whatever tools you want and improve your skills during the hunt. Many people use suppressors which enhance their ability to stalk closer to wild pigs, this is especially exciting at night in the dark.
Fifth, they taste good. I know, I know you’ve read on the internet that it tastes gamey and doesn’t make good sausage. It’s simply not true, is it Kobe beef? Obviously not, but that’s not what it is. It offers great sausage options – both breakfast and Italian sausage. We’ve mixed it with other meats as well and it compliments ground beef in all kinds of recipes, especially cheeseburgers. Contact us for this recipe if you want, we will gladly share the secret with you!
On this note, if you are actively harvesting hog meat and not interested in eating it, we work with an agency that will gladly accept the donations to feed the homeless communities in the Tampa Bay Area. Even if you aren’t in the central Florida area, we can connect you with agencies in your area to make sure your harvested meat goes to those that need it the most. There are food banks and agencies across the Country needing the meat today.
Lastly, it is a great bonding experience with others, regardless of whether it’s your kids, family or just friends. It is also a great chance to help your kids develop lifelong lessons in the woods. In a world of never-ending connection to electronic devices, it is a chance to have your kids turn off their IPads and get outside. The best part is you probably won’t get cell signal either so your work calls and emails will get to wait for the day.
